  • Entering in to a large open concept living space with vaulted ceilings and warm off white walls, tall navy curtains frame windows on either side of the white stone fireplace. A dusty rose couch is positioned on the left opposite two navy chairs all surrounding the fireplace. The dining room space is visible to the right.
  • Walking further into the room behind the blue chairs looking towards the living space the dusty rose couch is framed by a variety of house plants and has a custom golden piece of artwork hung above. The couch layered with cream and pink pillows. From here you can see the golden peacock table nestled between the blue chairs.
  • Turning now to face the dining area which sits just before large french doors, dusty pink chairs surround a round white table with a large wooden beaded chandelier hung above. Along the wall behind it, a gorgeous deep teal buffet table pulls the blue from the rest of the room. Atop it, a set of three pink and coral toned flower paintings fill the wall space.
  • A close up of the buffet area where the buffet is topped with vases and candles. Faux plants continue to dapple the space.

Soft Southern Glam Pink and Blue Living Space – In a reimagining of an earlier project, this space introduces more rich blues to an existing warm sunset palette as I worked with my client to fit her existing pieces into a new home. This project is paired with the below mauve bedroom as a part of a full scale top to bottom design package.

You can view this project and some of the specific selection over on my Houzz.

  • A wide angle view of the mauve toned master bedroom rendering, the bedroom is large with two windows opposite the door framed by large white curtains. Ahead to the left sits a black vanity with a white chair. Against the wall on the right, which is done in beautiful gold decroated branches on mauve wallpaper sits a black poster bed flnaked by black end tables topped with lamps. The bed has an ottoman at the base and a large crystal chandlier ahead.
  • a close up view of the master bed highlights the detailed wooden finials at both the headboard and baseboard. The chandleir hangs perfectly centered over the end of the bed where it meets the ottoman. To the right, a large golden mirror is propped on the floor.
  • A close up on the corner with the black vanity. It i stopped with decorative perfume bottles, a small mirror, and an orchid. A velvet white chair with golden legs is tucked below.
  • A collage of actual selections in the room gives a more vivid visual of the gold and muave wallpaper. The bed flanked by black shiny honeycomb end tables, topped with gold lamps with chandlier glass accents hanging from the shades. The bedding chosen is a rich purple velvet, with golden accent pillows. The rug below a soft white with golden lotus flowers. The curtains on the window a gentle white sheer with an embroidered top.

Mauve Master Bedroom Fit For a Queen – this master bedroom comes to life with rich purple walls, and carefully selected soft goods to exemplify all things glamour and comfort. We mix a bit of a traditional design with modern elements to pull together this one of a kind space. The final slide shows some of the specific selections made for the space.

  • Entering the living area the walls are painted a rich watermelon pink, the ceiling, a square repeating white pattern. A soft lighter pink couch and ottoman sit angled in front of 3 windows framed by tall ivory curtains, atop a white and gold geometric rug. The couch surrounded by plants and topped with creamy accents.
  • Venturing into the room, looking more into the house, behind the angle of the couch a large archway opens up into a softer pink dining room where hot pink chairs stand out. Within the living room, to the right of the couch, a creamy papasan chair is nestled in the corner with a large palm and black leopard artwork.
  • Tucked behind the angle of the couch, and across from the papasan chair cubes are staggered holding vinyl records and large books, with plants on top. Along the wall next to the window, a white cabinet holds a turntable. Large black deer antlers are mounted above.
  • As you make your way back through the living room towards the front door, framed with two half narrow half windows, a small nook is carved out at the edge of the couch. Here a square white tufted ottoman sits in front of a tall ornate gold mirror. Additional golden tables fill the corner and are topped with plants, a large hanging plant hangs down in the corner.
  • On the opposite side of the entry, a vintage queen anne chair done in leopard print sits next to a media cabinet. It's topped with a white and gold pillow and a black purse, with a large pothos on the adjacent cabinet.
  • a close up of some details around the space show a golden snake candlestick holding a short candle in it's mouth, with leaves from a nearby neon pothos trailing across it.
  • from the couch looking at the plants along the window, a variegated ficus ruby, zz plant, and more types of pothos all glow in the evening sun with the vivid pink walls stunning behind them.
  • on the ottoman, a creamy alligator skin rectangular tray with shiny gold handles sits atop a plush knit creamy blanket, with the soft pink chenille couch in the backdrop. A single pink ocean resin and wood coaster sits on the tray.
  • a close up of the palm in the corner with the papasan chair, it's leaves reaching slightly in front of the golden leopard triptych which glows beautifully from this angle. Its hung above a peacock lamp with a white and gold art deco lamp shade

Botanical Barbie Century Home – striving to breathe life into a 1927 home, a touch of pink or perhaps a magical wand dripping in pink paint has transformed this living space into a plant loving barbie’s dream home. Stay tuned as I transform the rest of my house.

  • Standing at the entry to the main living space the apartment's focal point are two large windows overlooking the city. The large navy couch faces the windows to take full advantage of the view. To the left is a nice defined walk way to the dining nook. This space has a large open concept that we've intentionally divided into the dining area, a coffee nook, a living space, and an office that is just out of sight.
  • Moving along the back wall towards the dining nook you see a white round table is paired with golden wire chairs in the corner. Two navy ottomans line the walls to open up seating around the table. An arching lamp hangs over the center of the table. The wall has been done in a golden geometric wallpaper. Large gold sunburst mirrors span the wall as decor. In the far corner moving towards the windows a wooden accent cabinet is paired with a large fig tree to create a coffee station.
  • Walking now around the space entering the living room we take one last look back at the dining area to view it as a whole. The wallpaper is along the right wall, but the sunburst mirrors on the right wall continue to wrap along the left wall defining the dining nook as its own space.
  • From seated at the dining room table you look across and see the golden wire chairs, which compliment the hints of gold across the rest of the living space. The living room expands across the front of the room gazing out over the city through large iron framed windows, while across from you to the right is a small office area. Golden accents have been used in the lamps, table legs and pulled into the artwork.
  • Looking from the windows into the living space, a large navy blue sofa that matches the ottomans in the adjacent dining space sits centrally in the room. It has been layered with teal throw pillows. A round white boucle chair sits across from it on the left. Each is paired with a round marble and gold end table with a statement gold lamp a top each. A gold coffee table sits centered in the space with a soft white rug expanding out underneath, defining the living space. From here you can see into the small office nook behind the couch on the left and beyond that to the kitchen.
  • Zooming in on the office space now, a golden painting that hangs above the boucle chair helps to accentuate the golden features used in the office. A small white printer table and white desk both with gold knobs line the wall. Above, floating shelves are adorned with vining plants and paired with a black and gold painting.
  • Angling our perspective, we look along the wall the office sits down into the kitchen. This shows the entry to the main living space with the office being directly off the kitchen. The natural plants within the office space and the neutral white allows this space to be functional without pulling too much attention away from the main living area.
  • Jumping to the front entryway, we walk into a moderate sized space. To the left a white and gold marble table lines the wall with a round gold mirror atop it. A geometric black vase with cherry blossom branches poking out of it is paired with a small gold vase on the right side of the table. A snake plant sits tucked between the table and the wall the door is on. Further into the space a neutral clothing rack sits for some added storage.
  • Entering in to the bedroom now, this small space has been transformed into a cozy feminine oasis. Across from you against the wall on the right a golden day bed is centered on the wall. It's covered in rose, blush, gold, and cream pillows and bedding. Above the bed a painting of Audrey Hepburn is paired with vintage black and pink fashion style artwork. To the right a small table sits with a golden pineapple lamp giving the space a warm glow. A fluffy white rug extends from underneath the bed reaching out to a vanity that sits across from it.
  • Looking now from on the bed you can see the art deco style gold and white vanity. It is paired with a rose ottoman. To the right a lamp offers some additional light. To the left a yucca plant sits in a woven basket bringing some green into the space.

Deco Meets Modern Gold and Glamour in this apartment design – In a new approach to an existing project we take the base design from the project below and apply it to a new space where we worked to pull in elements of gold and exciting new patterns to make this new space feel like home. We arranged the living space to best optimize the view from the apartment and allow for a true dining area. For the bedroom we worked to create a glamorous deco oasis that maximized the smaller space.

This project was completed completely virtually, and renderings are as accurate as possible to represent final selections. You can also view this project on my Houzz page. For product selections that differ from the renderings please see the reference photo within the Houzz project for precise selections.

  • View of condo from kitchen, the new gold pendant lights hang down framing the view where the remainder of the living room design glows in the background
  • As you walk past the kitchen you can see the living room, large navy curtain hang from floor to ceiling on the far wall framing large patio doors outside. There’s a gold bar cart nearest to you on the left and a bright pink chair facing the remainder of the furniture arrangement. A large white vase on the floor full of monstera leaves separates off a small corner office from the main view.
  • Walking along the back of the pink chair to another corner of the room, you look across the living room. A deep navy couch is to your right. You can see directly into the small office space from this angle.
  • A close up of the office space. One of the navy curtains hangs beside a white vanity being used as a desk to blend with the rest of the design. Gold pieces of art are hung above the desk and a small orchid that is pink has been added as decor to compliment the pink chair.
  • Standing in the corner where the office is, you turn and see the whole living space with the kitchen behind it. The deep navy couch has teal and gold pillows tossed across it and looks striking across from the pink chair.
  • This view shows the navy couch head on. To the left of it, between the couch and the patio doors sits a fun Sherpa white chair, this chair is round and really interesting. The couch is framed by two gold and marble end tables with large gold statement lamps set atop them. A beautiful custom piece of artwork is hung above the couch pulling the blues and teals of the space together. In front of the couch sits a gold coffee table. The living room furniture arrangement is framed nicely by a soft white rug with a gentle black lattice pattern.
  • As you walk through the room you return to the kitchen space where an island separates the living room from the kitchen. Barstools with gold legs line the eat at counter. Gold and glass pendant lights hang down tying together the design with the kitchen space which has an older look to it and the original rich wood cabinets.
  • View of the bedroom as you enter the room, the walls are a soft moss color and the bed is covered in deep blue and gold pillows. There’s a white vanity with a teal scalloped velvet chair on the wall to the right and a large fake banana tree against the window that is directly across from the bed as you enter.
  • View of bed head on, standing near the window facing the door. You can see the fun pillows covering the bed with two large plant like photography prints hung on the wall above.

Mid-Century Art Deco Full Condo Design – These renderings above walk you through my first virtual design project. We furnished and decorated the entire condo with a delightful jewel toned color palette and an emphasis on texture to allow a fully immersive experience for all who enter the space.

  • As you walk into the space standing in the entryway the open concept living dining and kitchen space expands to your left. It is a soft creamy toned space with rose and pink tones being compliments by vibrant blues and golden accents.
  • Walking into the space now standing between the dining area and living room you look out towards two double patio doors. A velvet channel stitched sofa with gold legs is angled in the corner facing you. A large arched lamp sits behind it stretching into the room. Mismatched golden tables of varying sizes sit on each side of the couch atop a white rug. To the right a large scale mirror is propped on the floor. Opposite the couch a pair of elegant navy blue chairs with embroidered backs sit next to each other, a golden peacock table between them. Behind the chairs the entryway is visible. To the left of this living space the corner of the dining room begins to emerge.
  • Looking closer at the living space you see the couch is topped with soft cream and blush colored pillows, the chairs with matching white toss pillows. Plants cascade around the edges of the furniture. Large white curtains frame either side of the patio doors.
  • As we walk closer towards the couch you can see beyond the doors to a small patio overlooking the city. The side of the couch nearest the patio door faces a small fireplace where a beautiful sunset painting hangs above it. This painting is the framework for the color palette of the space. As the wall the fireplace is on turns the corner you enter the dining space.
  • Looking directly at the dining space now, 5 blush velvet chairs with statement gold legs sit around a white pedestal table. The walls curve ever so slightly around the space and 3 large scale prints with vibrant pink and green flowers span the space. A beaded chandelier hangs above the center of the table. To the left, there is a small window framed by white curtains and more greenery. The kitchen expands further to the left.
  • Backing up a bit, we see the view from the couch where we look directly at the dining table and the large kitchen with wooden cabinets and a White Island matching the dining table. This layout has been chosen to encourage conversation between all three spaces of the living area.
  • Looking back to the left towards the entry space the kitchen is now at the right of our view and the two matching blue chairs sit in front of the entryway space. You can see down the hall into the remaining home, the long wall covered in gold mirrors.
  • As we make our way back to the entry space looking at the front door a small seating area with two matching white linen tufted poufs sit next to each with a small blush pillow atop them. A large scale female figure line drawing hangs above them with golden hooks to the right to hang keys. The space is completed with an umbrella holder to hold umbrellas and canes.

Glamorous Rose Living Space – Going with a soft dusty rose color as our main color point I designed this combined living and dining space around my clients desire for a posh and ultra femme perfect for tea party having space. We arranged the living area to face and be inclusive of the dining area so it seamlessly flows when entertaining large groups.

This project was completed completely virtually and the renderings of the final product work to best represent the pieces acquired. Additional photos and product specs that differ from renderings can be viewed on my Houzz page.

  • As you walk into the kitchen from the hallway you enter at a side view with the L shaped island visible. The cabinets are black with gold handles and white marble countertops. The shorter L of the island has custom ironwork framing the seating area. Two large black teardrop pendants hang above the island. Behind it are two double doors framed by floor to ceiling black curtains.
  • As you walk into the space, slightly behind the L of the island looking to the right into the full kitchen you can see the cabinetry lining the right and far wall. The kitchen curves with the sink in the corner of the space.
  • A view from behind the island, you can see the full kitchen. A stainless steel fridge sits on the far wall across from the island, cabinets then wrap around to the sink and round the corner to continue to a beautiful electric glass topped stove. Upper cabinets sit above the fridge and along the wall above and next to the stove. The space above the corner sink is open with a beautiful three pendant black and bronze light fixture illuminating the space.
  • A closer look at the corner sink, you can see a dishwasher sits between the sink and the stove. Beautiful sunflowers have been placed in a vase behind the sink with it's modern looking black faucet. A stainless toaster oven sits next to a knife block between the sink and the fridge.
  • A detail shot of the stainless knobs on the stove, it is a front controlled stove allowing for ease of use. Two knobs frame the center controls which operate the oven.
  • Corner view of my sink, with the updated white subway tile backsplash spanning all the way to the ceiling. The black and bronze fixture makes the corner space glow warmly.
  • Detail shot of the black cabinets with the elongated rectangular gold handles
  • detail shot of the light fixture above my sink. The black exterior is cut in a honeycomb shape where the bronze interior shines through
  • detail shot looking up into the black pendants above my island. The interior is a carved bronze medallion pattern

Complete Kitchen Build – this is my largest project that I’ve designed and built from start to finish, you can read the specifics, see process photos, and understand the impact of this project in the corresponding blog post.

The kitchen design works to maximize small space working with a minimal budget, while creating a stunning black and white art deco inspired design complete with custom intricate details.

  • A view of the completed corner of my living room, the far back wall has been completed with the wooden board art deco pattern, a palm tree sits in the corner where three large rattan hanging pendants drape across the ceiling and hang over the corner of the large white boucle sectional. A matching gold and marble round end table has been added to the near side of the couch to match the coffee table. A gold peacock lamp sits atop this end table with a white and gold art deco patterned shade. The space is pulled together with the pink oriental rug and deep eggplant colored Mongolian fur pillows and white pillows adorning the couch.
  • My living room pre paint set up. My white sectional has been pulled to the right side of the room leaving the far wall and the long wall to the left - both white - completely accessible. A ladder stands at the front of the frame.

Living Room Budget Upgrade – In an effort to make the best use of an extremely elongated room, I took advantage of some DIY upgrades to dramatically change the look and feel and create a space you never want to leave.

This project works with affordable solutions and utilizes color, contrast, and unique pieces to create a one of a kind space. Check out the full step by step process in my post about here, including product links!

Kitchen Colorways Exploration with a focus on Migraine Friendliness – This color concept focusing on a pre-existing kitchen design explores both finishes and material selections for a migraine friendly kitchen. Each color concept is meant to provide a visual to the client to imagine how her kitchen build could turn out, while offering material explanations with ideas like “low gloss, matte” and so on which will reduce concerns like glare which can worsen a migraine. Additional selection concepts include light fixtures that focus more on task lighting, eliminating direct eye contact with the light bulb while providing usable light on work surfaces.

A full scale rendering of a small studio apartment. A kitchen is off to the left, island slightly out into the space with a large open area ahead. The accent wall is done in a rich grey wood paneling. Against the window on the left is a green sofa topped with white and gold pillows paired with a green ottoman. The window is framed with long golden curtains. A built in closet sits to the right. Digital Projects

ADA Industrial Two-Story Loft: Combining elements original to the old factory with new chic designs while taking advantage of the large windows and open floor plan to create an accessible two story loft. Below is a look at the finishes and renderings for the space:

In addition to making this large loft wheelchair accessible with multiple points of entry, interior elevator access, and spacious rooms, adaptations including automatic blinds, remote controlled adjustable lights, and a meditation room have been added to create a migraine friendly environment.

  • The Great Room Mood board which serves as a large open space between a living room, kitchen, and dining space. Four renderings make up the left side of the mood board highlighting the floor to ceiling windows, a full exposed brick wall, and some spatial concepts of where artwork would be positioned above a small bar and in the dining area. The right side is 5 evenly sized swatched from top to bottom: a deep navy representing the color of the kitchen cabinets, a landscape painting in deep blues and greens, an abstract fluid pour painting in blues and golds which will hang in the dining space, the deep chocolate colored floor wood planks, and the red exposed brick.
  • The Kitchen Mood board, the four images show concepts of the navy cabinetry with the white countertops and exposed wood shelving. The 5 equally sized swatches to the left represent the stainless steel appliances, the navy cabinetry color, the white marble for the counters, the deep chocolate floors, and the exposed brick that will be across from the kitchen.
  • Mood board for the studio, the four pictures are a combo of renderings showing large scale black and white art against the exposed brick wall, a spiral staircase, and the workspace with floor to ceiling windows providing ample natural light. Some conceptual images of a seating area and sliding barn doors to enter the space round out this area. The swatches to the left show the varying white shiny fabric in the chairs and the cabinet texture, the white slatted pegboard that will be above some cabinetry, the continued chocolate floors, and the exposed red brick wall.
  • The master suite mood board highlights the spaces within the room including a minimalist sleeping area, a separate entry way, a large walk in closet, and a small private lounge. The swatches to the left show a Parisian photo that will hang above the bed, a warm white swatch that will be the wall paint, the deep chocolate floors, and the exposed brick wall.
  • The master bath mood board shows concept images, the entire wall will be a warm gold marble tone with an accessible tub and separate accessible shower, with modern double sinks that allow for roll under access. The swatches to the left highlight the marble, the soft lighter wood cabinetry accents, the deep chocolate flooring and a warm white for the walls.
  • Meditation room mood board showing a small windowless room with a cozy bench and deep red artwork and concept images of aromatherapy and shelves with oils and other meditation tools. The pictures are very dark to create a sense of calm and relaxation designed for those with migraine to be able to escape photophobia. The swatches on the right show a much darker tan for the walls and a soft plush fabric for the bench in white, the continued chocolate floors and the exposed brick wall.

Glamorous Hotel Concept: Taking a shabby chic style and adding in a sense of glamour and sophistication for this hotel design. Below are the furnishing choices and AutoCAD designs:

  • A mood board for the bedroom. The main color swatches are a cream with a complementary charcoal paired with an espresso wood floor. Furniture selections in white with gold accents are displayed with a cozy bed concept in a blush with grey accents and ample throw pillows. It is complete with a gold and blush abstract piece of art that will hang above the bed.
  • The bedroom floor plan and elevation renderings positioned side by side. In the autocad software I altered the furniture pieces to directly match my final selections. The elevation shows the perspective across from the bed with the desk and chair sitting next to an ornate dresser with a tv atop it. The floor plan shows the top view where the bed is central on the wall across from the desk.
  • The living room mood board shows the furniture selections slightly arranged. A soft blush chair sits next to a grey sofa. An ornate gold table lamp and a gold and crystal floor lamp frame the couch. A simple oval gold and glass coffee table sits in front. A beautiful bubble design collage of mirrors is hung above the sofa. This room will also have cream walls and espresso floors and will pull in bright teal accents through the pillows.
  • The living room elevation shows the wall with the couch, again edited in the software to match my final selections. To the right of the couch this hotel room provides a small kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, sink and coffee station. The floor plan highlights the living room which shows the opposite side having a tv and a little dining area not visible in the elevation.

Client Reviews:

  • Working with Alex was great. I needed a new couch and help determining the best fit for my small apartment and budget. I had been squirreling away hours trying to find the perfect thing and getting agitated and upset by the whole situation until I talked to her. She took time to understand my goals and design aesthetic, and thought through the process with me, including finding furniture that should wear well in the face of pets, be easy to move, comfortable and sturdy. She gave me a few options and we found something that is perfect for how I live my life and the constraints of my current home. I also should note that I live in San Francisco and she worked with me from a distance. Furthermore, I am blind and she went above and beyond to make sure I knew what the different pieces looked like, and she checked in that when I chose one I was able to make the purchase on the website.
  • Alex is an excellent remote interior designer. She is detailed and acutely conscious of how to accommodate a wide variety of unique requirements. She is responsive, a wonderful communicator, clear about her expectations, always prompt to appointments, and has an amazing concept of how to make spaces stand out. I recommend her work to anyone and everyone I come across and keep coming back to seek her expertise when I am about to begin a new project! I get nothing but compliments on her work and love my newly designed spaces. client review from 2023
  • Alexandra was a delight to work with! I was looking for color pallet recommendations for my new condo -- but the colors needed to meet some specific needs. She listened carefully and came up with a gorgeous proposal that met my needs. In addition to color pallets, she provided guidance on textures and finishes. All of this allowed me to construct a cohesive look for my condo using both pieces I already had and new pieces I bought. I would especially recommend Alexandra if you have specific sensory needs or other accommodations for your space. Being able to work with a designer to create a space that is specifically designed to be easier for me to exist in -- a designer who trusted my description of my needs and worked creatively with me to fine-tune and refine our ideas -- was absolutely wonderful.
  • Alexandra did a complete interior design on my empty condo. What’s more, she did it virtually using video chats. I can’t say enough about how much I adore the space she designed and receive frequent compliments on the décor. Alexandra gave me choices throughout the design and explained everything thoroughly. It felt like she was guiding my hand rather than controlling the process and I appreciated that very much. I highly recommend Alexandra and would love to work with her again.
