Interior Design Gallery

A look into my Interior Design Projects, showcasing some of my favorite designs. Since it’s inception, Tomlinson Designs has been dedicated to making the world of interior design accessible and inclusive to a variety of needs. Many projects are disability centric and prioritize the unique needs of each individual client.

As a designer, I strive to create welcoming and exciting spaces that combine vibrant colors, textures, and one of a kind pieces to ensure everyone has a space they can be proud of.

View of condo from kitchen, the new gold pendant lights hang down framing the view where the remainder of the living room design glows in the background
In a bright sunshine filled open concept space, standing between the dining area and living room you look out towards two double patio doors. A rose toned velvet channel stitched sofa with gold legs is angled in the corner facing you. A large gold arched lamp sits behind it stretching into the room. Mismatched golden tables of varying sizes sit on each side of the couch atop a white rug. To the right a large scale mirror is propped on the floor. Opposite the couch a pair of elegant navy blue chairs with embroidered backs sit next to each other, a golden peacock table between them. Behind the chairs the entryway is visible. To the left of this living space the corner of the dining room begins to emerge, where matching rose toned chairs surround a white round table.

Meet The Artist

A photo of me, a blonde white woman wearing a lightwashed denim jacket posing in front of a black wall that i hand painted a golden abstract elephant mural on.

I’m Alex, the creative behind Tomlinson Designs. I have had a passion for art and design my entire life, with my earliest murals being done in high school and then my partial college education taking me on a journey through art and science programs where I studied both Architecture and Interior Design.

Some of y’all may know me from my writing, I founded My Life My Migraine, a migraine centered blog documenting my own journey with debilitating disease and creating resources to help others while I was in college in 2018.

Since leaving college due to my migraines, I have slowly been able to utilize my spare time to run a part time business, Tomlinson Designs. After the completion of a personal large scale kitchen build project my completed project got a lot of attention online due to my careful attention to detail and the inclusion of alt text – that critical information embedded in a photo that allows people who rely on screen readers to also understand the media and photos included in our posts. As a disabled individual myself, accessibility is a top priority. However, this set me apart within the world of interior design – a world I never thought I’d get back to after dropping out of college – and has provided the foundation for my business to thrive. I now specialize in accessible interior design working with a range of disabilities including blindness, ADHD, and migraine offering virtual services across the United States. The interior design portion of my small business is now coming up on it’s 3rd year of operation!

Aside from interiors, I have always loved to paint. One of the earliest projects I took on to try and earn a small supplement to my SSDI was watercolor painting and creating adaptations of buildings across Charleston for my best friend.

With my primary focus being on interiors, painting has become more a side hobby. Over the last year I have worked to really emphasize and explore more in the world of painting, leaving my comfort zone of watercolors and trying out more complicated acrylic pieces. I have been so deeply fortunate in the support I’ve received from friends, family, and so many others who have simply been along on other parts of this journey that as I continue to expand my painting skills I have felt confident in opening an Etsy shop to sell my completed work!

The last piece of my creative portfolio that I have highlighted as a part of this website is one that I have slowly been honing away on and have always enjoyed sharing with anyone who will look: my photography.

As a child, as soon as I could hold the camera in my hand it was an inseparable piece of me. I still have entire photo albums of my earliest work, often depicting reflections of myself or my various collections of toys lined up to be documented. Early in high school I took a photography course with the hopes of really developing my skillset even more. Since, subjects like nature and sunsets fill my Instagram feed where I showcase all the little moments of beautiful – often fleeting – scenes I’ve captured. In tandem, I’ve grown a deep appreciation for the moon and have spent the last 5 years chasing the moon, creating a beautiful catalog of lunar photography.

Thank you for checking out my various portfolios and I hope you enjoy glancing through my various creative endeavors.
